Robert Stowe Life Story

Robert A. “Bob” Stowe, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018, at The Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart after an extended illness. He was born June 24, 1944 to the late Robert B. and Marie (Goldie) Stowe in Elkhart. Robert later married his beloved, Kathleen M. (Flowers) Stowe, who survives at home after the many wonderful years they had spent together.            

He is also survived by a sister, Barbara (Dennis) Wiese. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Patricia Gilliland. Robert was a loving husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. He loved his dog, Rudy, and enjoyed taking him out in his truck for rides. He led an incredible life and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1963. Robert served proudly in the United States Army as a Specialist 5 Helicopter Crew Chief stationed in Vietnam. He worked at Miles Laboratories (Bayer) for 42 years and was a storyteller at Prairie Camp for 6 years with his wife.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW as well as a member of the California Road Missionary Church. Robert enjoyed racing street rods and was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and Basketball.

 In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at California Road Missionary Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church’s organization, Deacon’s Closet, 29765 Co Rd. 12, Elkhart, IN 46514
