ELKHART: Robert W. “Bob” Crise, 74, passed away Monday evening, February 11, 2019, at his home, after an extended illness. He was born on October 4, 1944, in Nappanee to the late Cleo W. and Esther E. (Wade) Crise. Along with his parents, a brother, Rev. Ira L. Crise, and sisters, Ruth Waggoner and Esther May Collins preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie L. Crise, married February 27, 1988 in Elkhart; his children, Loreena (Raymond) Storer, James E. Crise; step-daughter LuWella (Joseph) Allmon; 4 grandchildren, Cara McMenamin, Nathan, Thomas and Andrew Storer; 1 great granddaughter Evelyn McMenamin; 4 step-grandchildren, Kimberly (Jonathan) Campbell, Joseph “Joey”, Joshua, and Lydia Allmon; brothers, Carl R. (Madonna) Crise, Joseph P. (Alicia) Crise, John (Norma) Crise, and sisters, Virginia E. (Marvin) Trost, Mary (Robert Frost) Johnson.
Bob was sworn into the Elkhart Police Department with a unit number of 55 on January 1, 1969, and retired July 1, 1999. He held the ranks of Lieutenant in the Services Division and Sergeant in the Uniform Division, was a firearms instructor, training officer, SWAT member, an armorer, and a member of FOP #52. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of Whosoever Will Worship Center. Bob graduated from Elkhart High School in 1965. At retirement, he also completed a tool & die program at EACC and graduated with a BA in General Studies from IUSB.
Services celebrating Bob’s life will begin at 11:00 am Monday, February 18, 2019, at Billings Funeral Home, with visitation for one hour prior. Burial will follow at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
Family and friends may gather from 2-6 pm Sunday, February 17, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. A flag presentation by the Elkhart Police Department will be conducted at 2:00 pm. Please visit the funeral home website to share a condolence with the family.
