Richard P. "Ricky" Rider

ELKHART — Richard Paul “Ricky” Rider, 42, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from injuries he received after a motor vehicle accident on I-94 near Ann Arbor, MI. Ricky was born on January 26, 1976 in Goshen to Richard W. Rider and Katrina L. (Thacker) Torres. Surviving is his father, Richard W. (Jeri) Rider; mother, Katrina (Victor) Torres; three sons, Ricky Valentino Lichti, Nicholas Dean Thacker and Davin Paul Rider; four brothers, Victor (Estela) Torres, Austyn Torres, Brandon (Angelica) Torres, Shawn Haley and his sister Kandace Torres. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, H. Richard and Jenny Rider and Paul and Lucille Thacker. Ricky was an over the road truck driver and was employed at Sweetland Transport Inc. of Oxford, MI, at the time of the accident. He grew up in the Goshen and Bristol area. Ricky enjoyed soccer and had traveled much of the country. But most importantly was spending time with his family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:30 pm. with visitation with his family beginning at 3:30 pm. on Friday, February 16, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St. Elkhart. The Reverend Matthew Coonan will officiate.  Cremation was chosen and will follow the mass.
