Richard Glen Martin

UPDATE - A celebration of life for Richard G. Martin will be held Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019 from 1-5 pm, with a short service at 1:30 pm.  at the Simonton Lake Sportsman Club, 51036 CR 11, Elkhart. Richard, 74,  died June 30, in Elkhart, Billings Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Richard Glenn Martin, 74, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday evening, June 30, 2019 at the Emergency Room at Elkhart General Hospital, with his wife Lynetta at his side. An Elkhart native, he was born July 2, 1944 to the late Milford and Ivadell (Glick) Martin.

Richard married Lynetta F. Mishler on June 16, 1990 in Elkhart. Lynetta survives, as well as a daughter Jeanna (Frank) Thomas, son Brice (Lisa) Martin; step-son Mikel (Tiffany) Bollinger; 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 8 step-grandchildren and his sister Pam Blankenbaker.

Richard retired after 30 years from Norfolk Southern Railway, where he worked as a Carman and Air-brake instructor. Richard loved fishing and was a member of the Simonton Lake Sportsman Club and enjoyed helping out with the Simonton Lake Children’s fishing contest.  He was also a volunteer/mentor with Elkhart Community School for many years.

Per his wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Billings Funeral, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. A celebration of life for Richard will be at a later date.
