Rebecca Lee Winer, 70, passed away after an extended illness on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. A lifelong native of Elkhart, she was born on January 5, 1949 to the late Charles and Elsina (Baer) Hart. She married Joseph M. Winer on May 21, 1971 in Middlebury, Surviving is her husband of 47 years Joseph M. Winer; son Sam C. (Sandra) Winer; daughter Michelle L. Winer; 3 grandchildren, Cadence Groen, Alyssa Groen and Julius Winer; also surviving is her sister Sharon Growcock and brother Charles Hart.
Rebecca worked as a beautician for many years. She was a 1967 graduate of Concord High School. She was very elegant and classy, she enjoyed flowers, singing, dancing and loved to decorate her home for the holidays and enjoy special times with her family.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10:00 am until Noon at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Private placement of her cremated remains will occur at the columbarium at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Pastor Terri L. E. Peterson, presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorials to the Center for Hospice Care or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
