Philip K. Smith

Philip K. Smith, 32, of Syracuse, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Phil was born on October 19, 1984 in Lafayette, to James Andrew “Andy” Smith, who passed on August 12, 2012, and his mother Michelle Marie (Martin) Madden. He married Megan A. Jones on September 15, 2014 in Goshen, Megan survives, as well as his daughter Madison Jane Stokes at home; mother Michelle Madden and husband Tim;  grandparents, P.J. Shupert and Ernie and Cara Lee Martin; 2 brothers, James A. (Traci) Smith Jr. and John T. (Autumn) Smith; also surviving are 4 nieces and 2 nephews, Shayle Mikel, Jamie Marie, Justin Bradley, Skyla Dawn, Trinity Cheryl Ray and John Thomas Jr., 2 aunts, Amy Jo Smith Clark, Linda (Bruce) Snyder, 2 uncles, Kerry (Julie) Smith, Ernie (Becky) Martin III and his in laws, Tim and Ginny Jones. Phil worked as an electrician at Keystone R.V., Plant 1 in Goshen. He also worked construction and enjoyed building things and working with his hands. Phil was always helping others anyway he could. He was very handy and could fix just about anything. He loved the outdoors and being around nature and also liked to do landscaping.  A gathering of family and friends for Phil will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Cremation was chosen.  Phil’s family prefers memorial be made to Ryan’s Place.
