ELKHART: Patricia M. “Pat” Poling, 81, passed to her rest Sunday morning, March 3, at Valley View Healthcare. Pat was born on May 21, 1937 in Detroit to the late Frederick B. and Dorothy (Conner) Cook.
She married Byrl G. “Gene” Poling on February 14, 1996 in Elkhart. Gene survives, as well as son, Daniel Wheelock, daughter, Kristine Wheelock, step-daughters, Vicki Wheelock, Vicki Poling, Carla Cottey, Sherry (Don) Wolfinger, Tammie (Roger) Duffy, Teresa (Kenny) Krise, step-son Ricki (Rachael) Poling, 2 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren; and her brother Robert (Pat) Cook.
In addition to her parents, a sister Dorothy VanDielen preceded Pat in death.
Pat retired from Elkhart General Hospital after 34 years of service; she worked in patient accountants and as a bookkeeper. She was a loving caregiver for her mother for several years. She was a Jimtown High School graduate and member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a charitable sorority. Pat was a member of Bethany Missionary Church and enjoyed doing ceramics and arts and crafts.
Funeral services for Pat will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart; with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Mike Peters of Bethany Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive West Cemetery.
