Pastor Jack Clayton McGlasson, 89, residing in Millersburg, passed to his rest from natural causes and into the arms of his savior on Friday, June 15, 2018 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on January 24, 1929 in Nuckolls County, Nebraska to the late Luther and Katherine (Gibson) McGlasson. After graduating high school, Jack heard the call of duty and enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1946 and served as a radio operator and also with the 82nd. Airborne Division, 505th. Parachute Infantry Regiment during WWII, until his honorable discharge in 1949. Jack entered Bethel College and received his degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
He then served as a Pastor at several Missionary Churches in our area from 1959 until 2012. Jack also served as a Chaplain with the Elkhart Police Department for 12 years. Jack hobbies included hunting and photography.
Pastor Jack was a true man of God, who enjoyed serving his family, country, community and church.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Evelyn M. McGlasson. They were united in marriage on August 26, 1951 at Zion Missionary Church in Elkhart. They were blessed with three children, Karen (Brent) Martin, Kathy J. (Stephen) Fisher and Joel (Kate) McGlasson; also 9 loving grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; Jack also has two brothers, Gene (Laura) McGlasson and Frank (Betty) McGlasson, surviving as well.
Billings Funeral Home is honored to celebrate the Life of Pastor Jack C. McGlasson, beginning with visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old CR 17, Goshen, IN 46528. Services celebrating his life will begin at 11: 30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, with visitation 1 hour prior also at Beulah Missionary Church. Reverend Earl Smith and Reverend Ron Phipps will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19. The families preferred memorials are to either Zion Missionary Church or Beulah Missionary Church.
