Orville D. Newell, 91, of Wakarusa, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born on June 29, 1927 in Fort Scott, KS to the late Orville D. and Florence (Large) Newell Sr.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula (Tom) O’ Brien of Elkhart; granddaughter, Christina (Darrell) Tonsing of Springfield, MO; and two great grandchildren, Josiah and Micah. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Lou Newell.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elkhart. A private burial and family gathering will take place at a later date in Kearney, MO.
Orville grew up in Fort Scott, KS and attended the First Baptist Church of Kearney, MO. He worked as an iron worker and welder for many years. Orville was a hardworking man who loved woodworking and taking on large projects. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan who had year-round passes to watch them play. Orville was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved God and shared his love of God with everyone. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
