Nancy L Whetstone

ELKHART — Nancy L. Whetstone, 69, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following a brief illness at Elkhart General Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018.

She was born in Elkhart on Feb. 26, 1949, to the late Francis Sparr and Elsie J. (Sutton) Sparr Miller.

She married Donald Whetstone in Elkhart on Sept. 28, 1975. Don survives at home after 43 wonderful years together.

Also surviving are daughters Ryann (Bryan Swetel) Herrli and Christine “Chrissy” (Chad) Bailey; grandchildren Owen, Wyatt, Noella and Paige and a stepsister Sandy Klyn.

Her stepmother, Anne Sparr, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, with visitation starting at 2 p.m.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow services.

Nancy retired from the Elkhart Community School system after serving as a special needs para-professional for more than 25 years.

She was very artistically accomplished and always enjoyed keeping herself busy with various craft and painting projects, as well as helping out with the planning of the EHS class of 1967 reunion each year.

She also loved her grandchildren dearly, was a loyal Notre Dame fan, enjoyed taking trips to Lake Michigan and was a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
