Marilyn June Tweedy

ELKHART — Marilyn June Tweedy, 92, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at her home.

She was born June 3, 1926, in Elkhart, to the late Carl and Sylvia (Stiver) Knisely.

Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and was a member of the Elkhart Vintage Auto Club.

Knitting was her passion. Over the years she donated hundreds of knit caps, mittens and slippers anonymously. She was a beautiful seamstress and a fantastic cook.

She was an avid golf fan, and she also enjoyed watching Notre Dame sports, auto racing and playing dominoes with her family.

She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Cripe and Becky (Michael) Kauffman; son Michael (Bonnie) Tweedy; daughter-in-law Nancy Tweedy; sister Genevieve (Lee) Mead; grandchildren Scott Tweedy, Shana Trussell, William James Tweedy, Jennifer Tweedy, Jeremy Kauffman, Joseph Kauffman, Matthew Kauffman, Adrienne Field and Chelsea Heiliger; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend for more than 50 years, Marge Teed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Tweedy; son Timothy Tweedy; and her baby sister, Verna Jean Knisely.

A celebration of life service for Marilyn will be at 11 a.m. with visitation prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

Donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the American Diabetes Association.
