ELKHART: Marcus Allan Guyer, 24, passed away Tuesday evening at his home. Marcus was born on New Year ’s Eve in 1993 in Elkhart to Ronald D. and Holly L. (Batterbee) Guyer. Surviving are his parents, Ron and Holly Guyer of Elkhart; two children, Jessica E. and Mitchell E. Guyer of Elkhart; his sister Andrea (Levi) Bouwkamp of Upland, S.C.; maternal grandparents, Rev. Clifford and Janet Batterbee of Mancelona, Mich. Also surviving is a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Marcus was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harvey E. and Ora Mae Guyer and an infant brother Eric J. Guyer.
Marcus graduated in 2012 from Elkhart Central High School. He was employed at MORryde as a welder and formerly worked at CTS Corporation Automotive.
Marcus was a proud veteran and a marksman, serving as a Specialist E-4 in Charlie Company, 1ST Battalion, 293rd. Infantry Regiment with the U.S Army National Guard for the past 4 ½ years. Marcus was a video gamer and an avid New England Patriot fan.
Visitation for Marcus will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, July 1, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Services celebrating his life will begin at 11:00 am Monday, July 2, with visitation for 1 hour prior also at the funeral home. His grandfather, Rev. Clifford Batterbee will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, with military honors rendered by the U.S Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19.
