Linda L. Jones

Mrs. Linda L. Jones, 70, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital following a sudden illness on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at 8:25 am.

She was born July 15, 1949 in Homer City, PA to the late Frank and Margaret (Pagliaro) Alloy and later married Michael L. Jones in 1980. He preceded her in death in 2012 in Tennessee.

Surviving is her son Christopher (Kristen) Jones; granddaughter Ava Jones; nephews David (Jennifer) and Steve (Beth) Alloy; sister-in-law Lina Alloy and a host of loving family and friends who survive as well. A brother, Mark Alloy, also preceded Linda in death.

Pastor Phil Byars and the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, 53953 CR 17, are honored to host the celebration of Linda’s life beginning with a memorial visitation to be held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, from 5 pm – 7 pm, followed by her life celebration at 7:00 pm. In accordance with her wishes, cremation had taken place with the assistance of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart.

Linda loved children and spent most of her life in the service of their care and education. She worked many years at the Hively Street Pre-School until she became the children’s librarian at the Elkhart Public Library. She remained there for over a decade. She was also an avid reader, polishing off as many as four books a day depending on her schedule, and was a devout member of the First Baptist Church. However, her passion was her granddaughter, Ava, whom she loved to the moon and back. Lovingly known as “Nonna”, Linda would spend every free moment she could with her beloved Ava, who has the same passion for books, art, and going to church herself because of Nonna’s nurturing legacy of faith, love, and devotion.
