CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Leela M. “Lee” Frey, 75, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home following a brief illness on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:12 p.m.
She was born Aug. 31, 1942 in Goshen to the late Andrew and Frances Weirick, but she was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Eloise and Clyde Weirick, following her parents’ early death. She leaves behind her loving spouse of 57 years, Francis L. “Roy” Frey.
Also surviving are her children Karen Lawson and Mark and David (Debra) Frey; sister Peggy (James) Myers; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and her beloved dogs Angel and Rosie. Preceding her in death is her brother Clyde Weirick and sisters Andrea McKinney and Mickey Lee.
Elder Steve James and Billings Funeral Home are honored to host Lee’s Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2 p.m., with viewing beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Reames-Norton Cemetery near Cassopolis.
Lee was a hospital and home care nurse’s aide in the Michiana area for over 20 years. Following her retirement, she fulfilled her traveling dreams by transporting RVs across the country with her husband. She was a devout member of her Kingdom Hall and was very family oriented, as they were always her top priority. She will be best remembered for being a die-hard antique mall enthusiast and for her witty and unflappable sense of humor.
Memorials may be given to the Kingdom Hall.
