LaVerne "Chris" F. Hamman

LaVerne F. “Chris” Hamman, of Elkhart, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2019 at 89 years old. She was born on December 19, 1930 in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Henry and Josephine (Mihic) Christenson.

She married Charles J. Humpley on February 21, 1948, who is deceased.

She is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Wilk and Maureen (Terry) Czoch; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and another one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her sister Doreen List; 2 sons Richard Humpley and David Humpley.

She remarried Conrad Eugene Hamman on January 13, 1973; he also preceded her in death.

LaVerne is remembered by her children when they were growing up, for sewing their clothes, growing and canning many quarts of fruits and vegetables, and her talent to cook great meals. She worked very hard on their small farm where she and her husband raised their children in Edwardsburg, Michigan. She gave each one of her children a compassion for animals and an example of hard work and strength to endure.

Cremation was chosen, under the care of Billings Funeral Home. Elkhart.

The family will determine a date in the future for a celebration of life service in the summer.
