ELKHART — Keith E. Ott, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital.
Keith was born on April 3, 1940 in Millersburg to Orion Ott and Inez (Simmons) Pepper.
He married Monica P. Stevens on May 24, 1965 in Elkhart.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Monica; three daughters, Madonna (Roger) Dickson, Rebecca (Wayne) Stewart and Pamela (Scott) Wineland; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn (Mary) Ott, Dennis Pepper; and four sisters, Kathy Ott, Loretta Fisher; Kay Pepper and Estella Cox.
Keith was preceded in death by his mom and dad, two sisters, Rachel Miller, Doris Brown; and three brothers, Bobby Ott, Bruce and Brian Pepper.
Keith was a proud over the road truck driver. He worked at and drove for Coachman Industries, then delivered units for Horizon Transport, Honey RV and Thoroughbred. He was the first driver to receive an award for driving over the road 1 million miles accident free.
Keith was the creator and designer of the “RV Bra” which protects the front of RV’s during transport from stones and dirt. He formerly worked as a mechanic at the Amoco station at Parkmore Plaza.
Keith proudly served in the US Army as an MP in Germany.
He was a handyman and jack-of-all-trades, and could never say no to anyone who needed a helping hand; he was a very active member in his church and was part of a mission’s trip to Mexico.
He is loved by his family and will be missed.
Celebration of life services for Keith will be held at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Trinity Praise and Worship Assembly, 56655 CR 1, Elkhart, IN 46516.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorials are kindly requested to the church to help the family.
Burial of his remains will take place at a later date.
