Jonathan Cox Life Story

Jonathan T. “Tim” Cox, 67, of Elkhart, was found passed away at his home following an illness on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at 11:48 pm.

He was born in Fort Wayne on July 18, 1951 to the late Clarence Cox and Bertha (Ellert) Cox, who survives him. He later married Mary E. (DeMoss) Pelmonter on July 11, 2001 in Elkhart. She survives him at home.

Also surviving are children Kristina (Matthew Stout) Leonard, Melissa Miller and Jerome Cox; sisters Martha Ferm, Loretta Shay and Donna Dameron-Groves and grandchildren Trey, Tamara, Brittny, Brooke and Olivia Cox, Cheyanne and Lillian Miller, Kasie (Austin) Housman and Taylor Leonard. Preceding Tim in death is a daughter, Denise Cox.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will host a Celebration of Life visitation for Tim on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 from 4-6. Military Honors will be rendered promptly at 4:00 pm by members of the US Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV #19. Following the visitation, cremation is to take place.

Tim worked in heavy machinery mechanics and warehouse operations for many years, but had retired from CTI in Elkhart as a shipping and receiving clerk in 2016 due to issues with his health. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and attending tractor pulls, and loved to “putz” around on his Wheel Horse lawnmower. He was also an honorably discharged US Army veteran serving in Vietnam.
