Jon W. Malk

Mr. Jon Walter Malk, 66, of Belen, NM and formerly of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly at Stratford Commons Apartments on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 9:04 am while in the area on business.

He was born in Elkhart on July 22, 1953 to the late Walter and Lois (Nutter) Malkiewicz and then married Vicki Lynn Kassis on Dec. 31, 1980 in Fresno, CA. She survives at home after 38 wonderful years together.

Also surviving are his children April (Thomas) Johnson, Misty (Tommy) Bruce, Jeremy (Tammy) Burns and Jasen (Marnie) Burns, 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes, Jon has been cremated and was buried at the Veteran Section of Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 at 10:00 am. Military honors were rendered by the US Navy Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV #19, and Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.

Jon worked at Honeywell International as a Logistics Coordinator for many years. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and formerly belonged to the Christian Motorcycle Association. He had also served as a youth pastor, was a self-taught guitarist and enjoyed the beach and grilling out. He will be best remembered for his love for the Beatles and for teaching James Bond and Chuck Norris everything they know!.
