John Arvoy Life Story

John James Arvoy Jr., 81, of Goshen, passed away early Monday morning, December 10, 2018 at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.  John was born on January 26, 1937 in Milwaukee to the Late John J. and Anna (Pagac) Arvoy Sr. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Joe Arvoy and an infant son Timothy Arvoy. He married the love of his life Lee M. Walsh in Milwaukee. Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Lee, four children, Jim (Beth) Arvoy, John (Tina) Arvoy, Lynn (Randy) Kee, Barb (Chris) Smith; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brother Tom (Sue) Arvoy and a sister Betty Koehler.

John worked at Cook Heating and Air Conditioning in Elkhart for over 40 years, he also taught HIVAC to many students at the Elkhart Area Career Center over the years. John was a proud Green Bay Packer fan and was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was an avid fisherman, and participated in many tournaments in the area. John proudly served his country for five years in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 until his honorable discharge. John was always willing to lend a hand with Marine Corps Toys for Tots toy drive.

 John’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. A celebration of life service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where addition visitation for 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S Marine Corp League Detachment #1397 and U.S Marine Corp Funeral Honor Guard. . In lieu of flowers, kindly send memorials to the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart Hospice House.
