James C. Stout

July 3, 1936 ~ December 25, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

GOSHEN – Heaven received a new Angel on Monday, December 25, 2017, with the passing of James C. “Jim” Stout, 81, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

Jim was born July 3, 1936 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Katherine (Fisher) Stout. He had 3 siblings, Bob, Sharon and Judith, all are deceased. On August 3, 1962, he married the love of his life, Connie Goudy.  They have two daughters, Missy (Scott) Trimble-Craver, Wendy (PJ) Bernth; and four grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Ashton Bernth and Aaron Craver.

Jim graduated from Ball State University, where he was on the golf team and later was a commercial lender at GMAC. Jim then went into banking and earned his banking degree in Madison, WI. He was a commercial lending officer and Vice President at First National Bank of Elkhart and KeyBank and retired from Lake City Bank in 2002.

Jim was an avid golfer, and participated in various city golf tournaments.  He loved fishing and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He passed his love of golfing and fishing onto his beloved grandsons, whom he loved dearly. Jim attended First Brethren Church, Elkhart and was an active member of the Elkhart Noon Kiwanis Club and volunteered for many local organizations. He was also a former member of the Christiana Creek Country Club and Elcona Country Club. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many, he will be missed dearly.

Visitation for Jim will be held from 4-8 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Services celebrating Jim’s life will take place at 10:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 also at Billings Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Rev. Alan Griffin, First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, will officiate. Private burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
