Jackie P. Peters

ELKHART — Jackie P. Peters, 72, of Elkhart, passed away at his home Monday, May 14, 2018, after a brief illness. 

Jackie was born Jan. 7, 1946, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, to Floyd and Myrtle (Hermanson) Peters. 

He married Nellie Fay Willis on July 11, 1970, in Elkhart. 

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nellie; daughter Tina (Robert) Proctor; two grandchildren, Corey (Stephaine) Proctor and Kayla Proctor; two brothers, Cecil (Alohoa) Peters and James Peters; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Lynn) Finch and Frances Tibbits; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Gordon Collum, two sisters Virginia and Violet and four brothers, Ernest, Richard, Joseph and David. 

Jackie worked as a driver for Imperial Stamping Corp. and was a welder at Auranco Industries for 26 years. 

Jackie served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed fishing.

His most special times were with his family and grandchildren. 

A gathering of relatives and friends for Jackie Peters will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Billings Funeral Home, with military honors being rendered at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. 

Per his wishes, cremation was chosen. 

He will be laid to rest at the Veteran Towers in Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date.
