ELKHART: Hatcher Gibson, 89, passed away Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019 at Riverside Village. Hatcher was born on February 2, 1930 in Guthrie, Ohio to Harrison and Martha (Arnet) Gibson. Hatcher married Joyce Lucille Boatman on October 20, 1990 in Elkhart; she passed on July 12, 2018 after 27 years of marriage.
Surviving is a daughter, Joy Lynn Gibson; step-daughter, Vicky Lee Ellsworth, step-son Raymond L. Ellsworth; several grand, step-grandchildren and great and step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford, Raymond Boone Gibson and his two sisters LuLaBelle Gibson and Pauline Roher.
Hatcher was preceded in death by a son Lonnie Gibson, granddaughter Jodi Lynn Gibson; two brothers Luther and Willis Gibson and three sisters, Marzella Gibson, Margaret Gibson and Marjorie Nichols.
Hatcher retired from United Roll Forming at the age of 85 after many years of service, as a machine fabricator and tool & die maker. Hatcher was a very hard worker, who could fix just about anything. He was always sketching and drawing, and enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. He was funny and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by his constant companion, a Boston terrier” Tipper.”
Friends may call from 1-3 pm, followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 pm. Monday, February 25, 2019 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Pastor Tim Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow at Carleton Cemetery. At 3:00 pm military honors will be rendered by the US Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19.
