Greg Roberts Life Story

LAKEVILLE — Gregg Wayne “Budman” Roberts, 57, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, with his brother, niece and nephew at his side.

He was born Dec. 17, 1960, to the late Gary Roberts and Rita Hostetler, who survives him in Bismark, Illinois.

Also surviving are his twin brother, Grant (Cindy) Roberts Sr. of Goshen; niece Nichole (Christopher) Warp; nephew Grant (Tiffany) Roberts Jr.; and great-nephews Cayden and Blake Roberts, and Bradyn and Trenton Warp, all of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Wayne and Josephine Roberts, Scott Rheinheimer and Phyllis Snyder.

Gregg was a 1979 graduate of NorthWood High School, where he participated in football and gymnastics, and was honored for achieving a perfect attendance record from kindergarten to his high school graduation.

He was a steel worker, armorer, roofer and was the first firefighter/EMT in a family known for its firefighting heritage.

While he was also a talented artist who enjoyed having a beer down at the Lakeville American Legion and spending time with his family, he will be best remembered for his sense of humor and his compassion toward the sick and injured.

Gregg’s life will be celebrated with a gathering of friends and family, at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, and, as Gregg would have said, “BYOB!”

Memorial donations can be given to the Center for Hospice Care or the Lakeville American Legion.
