ELKHART — Grace A. Goorhouse, 80, of Elkhart, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born Dec. 21, 1937, in South Bend, to the late Herbert and Vera (Toth) Edmonds.
She married Ronald J. Goorhouse on Oct. 15, 1991, in Elkhart.
Ron survives, as well as three daughters, Vicky (Mike) Cassity of Cascade, Montana, Cheryl (Jimmy) Price of Adairsville, Georgia and Peggy Holt and Rich Newman of Mishawaka; two sons, John Goorhouse and Tammy Kinne of Wakarusa and Chris Goorhouse and J.C. Smith of Elkhart; also surviving are six loving grandchildren, Carrie Price-Jung, Ryan (Kelley) Price, Krystle (James) Garner, Ryan Holt and fiancée Kristen Anderson, Blake Goorhouse and Ashley (John) Hopkins; five great-grandchildren, Jameson, Ame’lie, Jimmy, Dakota and Amelia; and her two sisters, Merle Luhrsen and Adelaide (Tim) Cashman.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Roger Cook, her beloved grandson, D.J. Rahn preceded her in death.
Grace attended New Carlisle High School and then graduated in 1975 from Elkhart Central High School after going back to finish school while working at First National Bank as a branch manager and she retired from KeyBank as a vice president after 24 years of total service.
Grace formerly served as a board member of Jimtown Community School System and as an advocate for MADD.
She enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets.
Per Grace’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with burial at a later date in Olive West Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorial donations be given to American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
