ELKHART — Francis C. “Frank” Alvey, 86, of Elkhart went to be with the Lord following a sudden cardiac arrest on Friday, February 9, at home. His childhood and early adulthood years were spent in Detroit, Michigan where he married Barbara J. Bramble – the love of his life – on August 14, 1953.
Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He had been an active member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart since 1974; he had served as a deacon, and had a leadership role in their Christian Lights Sunday School class. Frank was a board member of Faith Mission Elkhart, and served with Gideons International Association, and Salvation Army. He was a 30 year member of the Bent Oak Golf Club – a sport he and Barbara both enjoyed.
While working full-time and raising a young family he attended night school, and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and continued to be a life-long learner. He owned and operated Frank Alvey Recruiting.
Frank was deeply committed to his family. He loved them unconditionally and invested himself in their lives. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and faith. Frank is survived by his wife Barbara; children, daughter Carol (Phil) Gelatt, and sons Craig (Genny) Alvey, and Paul Alvey (former wife Lori); nine grand-children and six great-grandchildren, an older brother Jack (Shirley), and younger brothers, Mickey and Bob (Jean), and younger sister Redyth (Larry) Gilbert, along with many nieces and nephews.

Saturday, February 17, 2018, with visitation for family and friends starting at 9:00 am. at the First Baptist Church, 53953 CR 17, Bristol, IN 46507. Pastor Phil Byars will officiate.
