Everett "Budgie" D. Cassity

Mr. Everett D. “Budgie” Cassity, 64, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an extended illness at his home on Thursday, Jan. 09, 2020 at 7:55 pm.  He was born July 29, 1955 in Lexington, KY to the late Ray and Sadie C. (Goldie) Cassity.

Survivors include children Cristina (Adam) Swartz, Tonya (Matt) Beaudway, Naomi Speicher and Brian Cassity; brothers James, Floyd (Peggy), Edward and Ray (Charlene) Cassity; sisters Elizabeth Roe and Phyllis (Randy) Albright; grandchildren Krista, Hanah, Sendra and Tyler Cassity, Haley and Kelsey Swartz, Breanna and Dylan Paluszewski, Lilah Hart and Alyssa McCarty; great grandchildren Mila Barrett, Kaedance and Aileana Cassity and Kryslyn and Sabastien Schultz; his significant other Melinda Pressler and a host of loving extended family and friends. Sisters Hazel Clem and Ida Mae Crisler, brothers Chester and Bill Cassity, sister-in-law Barb Cassity and his parents all precede him in death.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will be hosting Budgie’s memorial life celebration event on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Chaplain Neil Davis of the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend will officiate. In accordance with Budgie’s wishes, cremation is taking place.

Budgie worked as a production worker in the manufacturing industry most of his life. He loved the outdoors, barbecues and bonfires, but his best times were spent in the presence of his children and grandchildren
