Mrs. Elsie Louise Butler, age 87, of Elkhart passed away Monday, June 24 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.
She was born April 18, 1932 in Steuben, Maine; daughter of the late Addella and Frank Robinson.
Elsie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Reggie Butler of Elkhart. Their two daughters are Pat Jones of Anchorage, Alaska and Donita (Dave) Negron of Niles, Michigan. Her grandchildren are Sean (Anne) Lowry of Constantine, Lauren (Brent) Boswell of Kalamazoo, and Joe (Amanda) Zapata of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Great-grandchildren are Kade, Jax, Charlotte, Mia and Daniela. Her surviving siblings are Rodney Robinson of Steuben, Maine, Erma (Andrew) Sholtis of Lincoln, Alabama and Dexter (Sherry) Huntley of Elkhart. She is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, Hazel, Ella Kay, Danny, Earland, and baby Robert.
Elsie was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and for many years she taught Sunday School to the preschoolers at Simonton Lake Baptist Church. She enjoyed her role as grandmother best. She also enjoyed babysitting for friends’ children, gardening and camping.
Elsie's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 4pm at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with a meal to follow.
