Delno "Del" Denny Johnson

Mr. Delno D. “Del” Johnson, 71, of Cassopolis, MI, was found passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at 6:50 pm.  He was born Apr. 10, 1948 in Melvin, KY to the late Greenberry and Alice (Thornsberry) Johnson and later married Rose Ann Berry on June 21, 1969. She survives at home after 50 wonderful years together.

Other survivors include his children Jennifer (Teresa Clifford) Hartl and Timothy (Barbara) Johnson; brothers Grover (Paula), Virgil (Stacia) and Sylvester (Shirley) Johnson; sisters Barbara (Ray) Caudill, Ruby Huffman and Carol Sue (James) Tucker; grandchildren Nicole (Michael) Sevison, Ashley (Steven) Tucker, Britteny (Ryan) Hathaway, Stephanie (Michael) Muncie, Ryan Painter, Kurt (Alexa Minix) Hartl, Jr., Rebecca (Casey) Adams, Glen Hartl and Tori Hartl; great grandchildren Skylar Sevison, Wyatt Adams, Remington Muncie, Weston Adams, Addisyn Muncie and Hazel Sevison,  plus one on the way! Preceding him in death are siblings Lloyd, Jimmy, Carlos and Magaleigh Johnson, Aunt Velvy Johnson, Son-in-law Kurt Hartl, Sr., and grandson Timothy Hartl.

Del’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart. Visitation will begin there at 2 pm. Brother-in-law Pastor Ray Caudill will officiate and cremation is to take place.

Del worked as an electrician in the construction industry for the better part of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish whenever he could. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV; especially racing and his beloved Green Bay Packers. Friendly and out-going, Del never knew a stranger and was always considered to be a man of his word. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and to cook, with his famous vegetable soup being one of his most popular recipes.
