ELKHART — Coreen White, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Waterloo, Alabama, July 22, 1928, to the late James and Ester (White) Austin.
On Dec. 25, 1943, she married Turner C. White in Waterloo. Turner died May 2, 2016, after 72 years of marriage.
Surviving are three daughters, Connie (Allen) Roberts, Joan Brazell and Linda (Eric) Stultz; and two sons, Jeff (Cheryl) White and Steve (Mickey) White; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Willis (Kelly) Austin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, two brothers, Benny and J.A. Austin preceded her in death.
Coreen was a loving wife, mother and grandma to her family.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She also liked gardening and canning what she grew.
Coreen loved the Lord and being outdoors in all of God’s beauty.
She also enjoyed looking at pictures and listening to country music.
In the past she would help her daughter with the harvest market at Woodlawn Nature Center.
She also attended Riverview Adult Daycare Center and Crossroads Community Church.
Services celebrating Coreen’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., with visitation starting at noon.
Pastor Tim Fisher from Crossroads Community Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
