UNION, Mich. — Charles R. “Chuck” Tom, 66, of Union, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 16, 2018, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.
Chuck was born Jan. 12, 1952, in Elkhart, to the late Irvin E. and Florrella (Parritt) Tom.
He married the love of his life, Debbie J. McDonald on Nov. 4, 1972, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Debbie; sister Patricia “Patty” (Lester “Butch”) Kincaid and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck met Debbie when they were teenagers, and they have been together ever since.
Chuck worked as a truck driver for a few years for Genesis Products, formerly worked at Patrick Industries for 13 years and was with the U-Rent-It Store location in Elkhart for 23 years.
He loved to hunt and fish in his younger days.
He and Debbie enjoyed going to antique steam engine shows around the area and he especially liked the antique hit-and-miss engines.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.
Funeral services for Charles will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, with visitation one hour prior.
Pastor Steve Steele will officiate.
Burial and graveside services will follow in Plum Grove Cemetery in Union.
