ELKHART — Audrey M. Hale, 83, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Milton Home in South Bend following an extended illness.
She was born April 12, 1935, in South Bend, to the late Harry and Zelma (Blondele) Janowiak, and later married Larry E. Hale in South Bend on Jan. 30, 1954. He survives in South Bend after 64 wonderful years together.
Also surviving are sons Mark (Beth) and Robert Hale; grandchildren Nicole (Andy) Bailey, Rebecca (Eric) Campbell, Scott Hale and Jim and Eric Ryder; great-grandchildren Jonathan and Brandon Bailey, Mehgen Vest, Mason and Mattie Campbell and Dylan, Alyssa and Eric Ryder Jr.; stepsiblings Mary Jo (Dan) Smith and Dennis Tribbey; and her beloved Boston Terrier, Libby.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Pritchard, and a brother, Robert Janowiak.
Audrey worked in environmental services at Elkhart General Hospital, retiring around 2009 after nearly 22 years there.
She was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Bristol and was very proud of her grand and great-grandchildren.
Her free time usually included shopping, spending time with her husband, Larry, and rooting for Notre Dame.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Milton Home for the exemplary care extended toward Audrey and also Larry.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart will host Audrey’s memorial life celebration service at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Family friend Brother Roy Parker will officiate and cremation has taken place.
Memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
