Don Plymale

ELKHART -- Don S. Plymale, 85, of Elkhart, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday (Feb. 15, 2010) in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness .

He was born March 28, 1924, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Frank Alfred and Carol (Coberly) Plymale. On May 20, 1978, he married Mary Alice Metzler in Kokomo.

She survives with one daughter, Jan (Ray) Anderson of Parker, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Esenwein of North Webster; and one stepson, Roderick (Freida) Clouse of Gerrards Cross, England; eight stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mr. Plymale worked as a manager at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He served as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech and Indiana University, Kokomo, Ivy Tech, Elkhart, and Indiana University South Bend; interim dean of business at Rio Grande (Ohio) University; professor of business at Lakeland College, Sheboygan, Wis.; and taught business at Lahore (Pakistan) College in 1993.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Elkhart, and Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary. He received a 20-year service pin and national award in 2010 for being a member of SCORE 592, Elkhart.

Cremation is planned. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee, at a later date.
