Mary B. Goorhouse

Mary (Bernice) Goorhouse passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by those who loved her on Monday, March 11th, 2024. She was born in Athens, AL on January 2, 1947.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Mary Harrison; and her brother, Thomas Harrison. She is survived by her husband, Terry Goorhouse; three daughters, Monica Etling, Melissa (Glenn) Miller, and Marlene (Bo) Griffin; her siblings Terry (Janice) Harrison, Patricia Wynn, Sally Bailey, Dennis Harrison, Jeanette (Robert) Massing, and John (Marcy) Harrison; two grandchildren whom she raised as her own, Makayla (Emily) Parsons, and Matthew Goorhouse; her great-granddaughter Marlee Parsons; and with many other extended family members whom loved her very much.

Mary was known for her adventurous spirit well as her fierce and feisty personality. She approached life with determination and courage, never backing down from a challenge or saying no to a good time on a four wheeler! Her unwavering love for her family, passion for music, fun, and nature, and her sharp wit endeared her to all who knew her. Mary dedicated her life to caring for her loved ones and creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered. Her grandchildren and daughters were her entire world, and she was always ready to protect and provide for them when needed. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, unwavering loyalty and love, and her ability to always see the good in others.

The viewing will be held at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart on Friday, March 15th, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Mary's remarkable life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with an hour of visitation held prior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, a cause that was dear to Mary's heart.

May Mary Goorhouse rest in peace, knowing that her fierce and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
