Mary Clemans Life Story

Mary E. (Watts) Clemans, 86, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at her home.

Mary was born on November 9, 1937 in Elkhart to the late, Charles and Wenonah (Atkinson) Mabie. Mary was married to Louis K. Watts for 35 years and following his death on November 23, 1989, she re-married Robert Clemans, Sr., whom passed away on August 6, 2019.

Mary is also preceded in death by her son, Louis L. Watts, daughters, Carol Carleson, Terri Littlefield and Michelle Mares; brother, Arden E. Mabie and sister, Donna Clemans.

Mary is survived by her children, Amy D. Brock, Darrell R. Watts, Robert (Phyllis) Clemans, Arden (Missy) Clemans, Jennifer (Danny) White and Judy Hoge; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mary attended Willowdale Church of Christ in Elkhart. She was a patriotic lady  and supported veterans.

Mary was a skilled seamstress. She also liked the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle. Mary was an avid romance novel reader and enjoyed watching action movies.

Mary was an animal lover and enjoyed being surrounded by nature and tending to her flower garden.

Mary enjoyed the simple things in life and cared for others. She took great pride in making sure things were done right.

Most of all, her family filled her heart with love. Family get together’s and holidays were her favorite time of the year.

Her sense of humor included a good joke with her beloved grandkids and the joy she spread to those around her.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Chris Reno officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Prairie Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Foundation or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
