Larry Staggs Life Story

Larry Vernon Staggs, 86, of Goshen, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Majestic Care in Goshen. He was born in Indianapolis on August 9, 1937, to the late Vernon and Nadine Staggs.

He is also preceded in death by his son, Todd Randall Staggs; brothers, Stanley, Jim, Rodney, and Steve Staggs; sisters, Karen Britton-Fletcher and Francis DeLagrange; and brother in law, Joe Reagin. He is survived by his son, Mark (Lisa) Staggs; grandchildren, Gabby (Derek) Shriver and Audrey (Christian) Arroyo; great grandchildren, Luka, Hudson, Blakely; sisters, Connie (Tim) Rigby and Suzie “Sue” Reagin; honorary brother and friend, George Conners; and multiple nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Larry’s wishes, cremation was chosen which will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date where he will be laid to rest at Wolf Creek Church Cemetery.

Larry was a family man who worked as a conductor for the Railroad for over 30 years prior to retiring. He served in the United States Marines for two years. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed playing golf as often as he could. When he was younger, he enjoyed taking motorcycle rides around the country.

Though Larry kept to himself, he enjoyed living in Florida for a couple months out of the year. Family meant the world to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them, especially when he could visit with his grandchildren and sisters. Larry went to many of his granddaughters’ sporting events and would often cheer them on from the sidelines. He enjoyed knowing that they had a love for sports like himself. Larry will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
