Gregory "Greg" McKrill Life Story

Gregory S. McKrill, a lifelong resident of Elkhart, passed away peacefully of natural causes at home, listening to his beloved Gospel music on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the age of 64.

He was the son of the late Warren and Louise (Berkey) McKrill and is survived by his sister Pam (Timothy) Amerman of Elkhart.

Those also surviving Greg include his aunt, Ethel McKrill, and cousins Debbie (Chris) Reynolds, Kim Berry, Kathy (Max) Weinhoff and several second cousins, all of Elkhart.

Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Helen McKrill, Clarence and Vera Berkey, his uncle Stan McKrill and cousins Denny McKrill and Jason McKrill.

Greg was a graduate of Memorial High School where he was a member of the football team, played the trumpet in the band and was active in the Boy Scouts of America.

Greg worked many years in the manufacturing industry.  He was an avid enthusiast of cars, trucks and go-carts and enjoyed working on them.  His affinity for four wheels came honestly at an early age, as he had a “Hot Wheels” collection and track that he enjoyed well into his adulthood.

Greg had a deep love and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalms 73:25, 26 states “Whom have I in heaven but thee?  And there is none upon Earth that I desire besides thee. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart.

A private service will be held at a later date, and Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with arrangements.

“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the Heaven;  a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted….a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace…. all go into one place; all are dust, and all turn to dust again.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1&2, 4&5, 20.
