Darann Darlene (Meredith) Pontius

Darann (Meredith) Pontius, 62, of Elkhart, IN passed away after an extended illness on Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Darann was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 5, 1961, to Robert L. Meredith and Coralie J. (Powell) Meredith.

Darann was preceded in death by her father Robert L. Meredith, brother Mark Meredith, and niece Lacey Weidner.

She is survived by her significant other Mark Sharp; her mother Coralie J. Anderson; sister Kathleen J. Weidner; brother Robert E. Meredith; sons David A. Pontius and Richard E. (Chelsea) Pontius; grandchildren, Adam, Apryll, Korah and Allen and one on the way; an aunt and uncles; a nephew, nieces, cousins and “special daughter” Amber (Ridge) Briesacker.

Darann was a 1979 graduate of Jimtown High School. She worked for many years at Sam’s Club in Goshen where she met Mark Sharp and became friends with other employees and customers. She was a huge Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Nascar, in particular Tony Stewart, and Green Bay Packers fan and collected apparel and memorabilia related to each. She loved all kinds of music including classic rock and country. She loved cooking and doing crafts with her grandchildren as well as setting up at craft shows with her mom and sister selling her embroidery items. She also supported the Shriners of Cass County and Riley’s Children Hospital.

Most of all, she loved her family and always made sure everyone was taken care of and remembered on special occasions. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Darann’s life will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm before the start of the service at the funeral home.
