Oct. 3, 1927 - March 26, 2012

ELKHART — W. JanRose Blodgett, 84, a lifelong resident of Elkhart County, passed away at 11:22 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born in Goshen on Oct. 3, 1927, to the late William and Laura (Klonowski) Knapp.

Surviving are her son, Scott (Stephanie) Smith Schrock of Elkhart; brother John (Betty) Knapp of Syracuse; sister Joan (Herb) Ulery of Middlebury; and grandchildren Adam, Matthew, Valerie, Charles and Rachel Schrock.

JanRose was an avid bowler in her younger years and was inducted into the Goshen Bowling Hall of Fame in 2000.

She was a past commander of Goshen DAV 15 Auxiliary, as well as a member of Goshen VFW 985 and Goshen Women of the Moose 1047. She was also an avid fundraiser for MDA and St. Jude’s Hospital, holding a 24-hour garage sale every Labor Day weekend.

She enjoyed bingo and cooking traditional Polish food for her friends, family and many of the local veterans’ clubs on Dyngus Day.

Friends and family may gather at DAV Chapter 15 at 708 W. Pike St. in Goshen on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., where a celebration of JanRose’s life will be at 3 p.m.

In accordance to JanRose’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Billings Funeral Home has been assisting the family with arrangements and is accepting online condolences at its website.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
