Imogene J. Nelson

ELKHART -- Imogene Jane Nelson, 92, of Elkhart, died at 11 p.m. Friday (Aug. 13, 2010) in her home.

She was born May 22, 1918 in Granby, Mo., to Charles and Fannie (Nunn)) Baumgartner. On June 18, 1950, she married Leonard E. Nelson in Elkhart. He preceded her in death in 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Nelson of Elkhart and Fran A. Swales of Columbus, Ohio; one niece; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor David Knight of Osceola Grace Bretheren Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

Imogene spent many years working for Elkhart Community Schools food services. She was a member of Elkhart Investment and Coterie clubs.

Memorials may be given to Southern Care Hospice, 310 W. McKinley Ave., Mishawaka, or to Faith Mission in Elkhart.
