Franklin E. "Frank" Templeton

ELKHART — Franklin E. “Frank” Templeton, 74, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

He was born, in Everettstown, New Jersey, Nov. 8, 1942, to the late Clarence and Emma (Bidewell) Templeton and later married Joan M. Barnes in Conway, North Carolina, March 10, 1961. She survives him at home.

Also surviving are his children Virginia (Susan Denarie) DeVatt of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Kathy Decker- Basden and Kim L. (Richard) Miller, both of Elkhart, Cynthia (John) Tigar of Washington, New Jersey, Antonio, Amanda, Marissa (Christian Freeze) and Keshawna Templeton, all at home and David (Alicia) Templeton of Elkhart; brothers Robert, Jay (Pat), Tim (Beverly) and Mark (Brenda) Templeton, all of Elkhart; sisters Nancy Templeton and Sandra Penney of Elkhart and Judy Coleman of Goshen; grandchildren Daniel, Laura, Haas, Joey, Nick and Jameson; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving extended family.

Preceding him in death were his brothers Art, Jerry and Bill Templeton and sister Naomi Templeton.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to be hosting Frank’s celebration of life gathering from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23.

Pastor John Utley of the Radiant Life Church of Elkhart will officiate and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.

Frank retired in 2003 from Fairmont Homes as a truck driver, but had worked in the rubber and tire industry for nearly 50 years before that. 

He was a member of the Radiant Life Church of Elkhart and had served as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey for many years and was president of his fire company. 

A devout Christian, Frank enjoyed gardening, raising children and sharing the story and words of Jesus.

Memorial donations may be given to the Frank E. Templeton Memorial Fund c/o his wife, Joan.
