ELKHART — Mrs. Ethel L. Stone, 84, of Elkhart and formerly of Edwardsburg, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Atria at East Lake Terrace in Elkhart.
She was born Dec. 26, 1932, in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Earl and Cletha (Young) Randolph, and later married Robert D. Stone on Jan. 12, 1962, in St. Joseph County. He passed away in 2006.
Surviving is her natural daughter Bobbie Jo Stone of Elkhart; sons Kenneth Thompson of Elkhart, Ronnie (Sue) Thompson of Windham, Ohio, Roger Thompson of Huntington, Ohio, and Denny (Cindy) Thompson of Elkhart; step-children Randy (Judi) Stone of Elkhart, Rhonda Harmon and Marcia (Terry) Sharp, both of Edwardsburg; brother Thomas “Pete” Randolph of Ohio; sister Dorothy Green of Elkhart; sister-in-law Shirley Stone of Elkhart; nieces Patty and Susie; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Also surviving to cherish her memory is her faithful companion, Anna the poodle.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Cheryl A. Morgan, and step-sons Jon and Scott Stone.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to host Ethel’s celebration of life with visitation on Wednesday, May 31, from 4 to 8 pm.
Funeral services will follow there on Thursday, June 1, at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Gary Sheets of Middlebury Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg.
Ethel was a long-time employee at the Selmer Company in Elkhart, retiring in the early 1990s. It was known that she simply loved working there and considered all her fellow employees as friends. She was also a member of the Bristol Church of the Nazarene.
Memorial donations may be given to the Center for Hospice Care / Hospice Foundation.
