Edna M. Kitson

ELKHART — Edna Mae Kitson, 84, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at The Center for Hospice Care. 

Edna was born Jan. 20, 1933, in the small Arkansas community of Glenwood, daughter of the late Flay M. and Bertha (Diggs) Dollar. 

In addition to her parents, husband Richard N. Kitson and two brothers, Robert “Pete” and Horace “Dood” Dollar preceded her in death.  

Surviving are her children, two daughters, Jo Anne Weeks of Elkhart and Ava Breniser of Middlebury and son Patrick (Kristie) Rosenogle of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Edna was a homemaker. 

She made the courageous move from Glenwood, Arkansas, to Elkhart to start a new life for her family. 

Edna enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, canning and cooking. 

Later in life she took up ballroom and square dancing. 

She volunteered at the YMCA and the Food Bank. 

Services for Edna will be private. 

Entombment will be at Hope Mausoleum in Rice Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, her family kindly request memorials to Elkhart Hospice House, 22579 Old U.S, 20, Elkhart, IN 46516 or Middlebury Food Pantry, 13307 C.R. 16, Middlebury, IN 46540. 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
