Charlotte L. Bunkelman

ELKHART — Charlotte L. “Char” Bunkelman, 82, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on August 11, 2017 at Greenleaf Health Campus. She was born on February 23, 1935 in Goshen to the late Elmer and Mary (Kindy) Eyer.

Char is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick “Fred” Bunkelman and step-daughter, Mindy Bunkelman. Surviving are her sisters, Carolyn Kinsey and Chris Nilsen. Also, her blended family; Cindy (Jill) Bunkelman, Scott (Dawn) Bunkelman; daughter Connie (Randy) Hoffman and sons Jeffery and Gregory (Leslie) Brooks; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, survive as well.

Char enjoyed playing bridge, reading, painting, golf and most of all, travel. She visited China, Egypt, Europe and Kathmandu, Nepal, where her sister Chris was living at the time and Puerto Rico.

Char was a member and licensed teacher at Unity Church of Peace in South Bend, where she taught a variety of classes.

In her later years, Char took a class at IUSB from a visiting scholar in Chinese watercolor. She went on to paint many beautiful works of art using this ancient Chinese technique.

Join us on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3:00 for a memorial service for Char. Visitation will be from 1:00 until time of service, all at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Rev.
