Billings Funeral Home was awarded Business of the Year for 2008 during the annual Business Recognition & Fairbanks Awards Dinner hosted by the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce. Jack Woodworth, Business Recognition Council Board liaison made the presentation to a sincerely surprised but grateful Brad Billings while Gary Sieber, WTRC news director and operations manager, served as master of ceremonies.
With over 1,100 business members, monthly nominations are accepted through the Business Recognition Council and are reviewed focusing on “entrepreneurial spirit in Elkhart.” Billings was awarded the September crowning for exceptional service and personalized care and became eligible for the ultimate year-end designation. Brad Billings stated, “Our staff is knowledgeable and experienced, but just as importantly, even more so in our line of work, they empathize with each family that walks through our front doors and is looking for guidance and comfort during the most difficult of times.”
Stephanie Patka, chamber assistant remarked, “It is important to properly recognize the exemplary achievements of this community’s outstanding companies. There are many deserving business owners whose tireless efforts warrant credit.” She continued, “Billings was among many great candidates and should feel extremely proud of the Business of the Year title that can only be earned through integrity and dedication to its unique objective.”
Billings Funeral Home has been a staple in the community for 14 years. Recent renovations and additions have included landscaping and more parking, a new chapel, comfortable lounge, TV room, and business offices reinforcing their commitment to bringing affordability with a dignified service to the community.
The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce has been actively serving as Elkhart’s voice of business since April, 1926.
